Your Website Should Be Easy to Edit

3. CREATING A NEW FRAMEWORK

Now that we have a working site, and a basic understanding, let's make our section of the website look different.

First, start with an html file and call is default.htm. We want to make just a couple of changes to start.
1) Where the "content" should go put the text $FULLPAGE (all caps).
2) Where the footer of the page should go, put $LOGO2
3) If you refer to any images or files, make sure they use relative paths.
3) If you want to link to any pages in the site, use $ROOTDIR or $ID

Second, create a folder under /frameworks and upload your files into it. To make a page in the website start using the new framework, log in to Invisible Gold and, go to the page, click Advanced and choose your framework's directory from the list.

NOTE: Each section of the website can have it's own framework and all of the pages below it share the same one (unless they specify a different one.) You can also use filenames other than default.htm. For example, home.htm is checked before default.htm on the homepage only.

HANDS ON: Create a folder and upload your framework into it. Set it so your section of the site uses it. Take a look at what other people in the class have done.
